Financial Reports Using Pivotier

fin

Modern, "Out-of-the-box" Financials

Pivotier uses your existing intelligence in your Chart of Account, Dimension Value and Account Schedule line definitions to produce financial reports with automatic generation of report pages, rows and columns.

Pivotier uses the power of the latest – and true - Microsoft reporting technologies like Report Definition Language (RDL) and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) to empower financial users to easily generate financial information from Dynamics NAV.  All of this with SQL Server database versions from 4.x upwards in your familiar Classic or Role-tailored NAV user interface.

Empowering Financial Staff

Financial reporting is made easier for Microsoft Dynamics NAV because Pivotier addresses the following critical success factors:

  1. Reports can be started once your G/L Account and Dimension set-up is completed
  2. Font formatting is available to prescribe colors, treatment of negative numbers, etc.
  3. Modern Microsoft reporting technologies are used with your current database versions
  4. All your dimensions can be used without creating Analysis Views
  5. Your organization’s data is secured by respecting your NAV roles and permissions
  6. Report access is available to “casual” users via the web using SSRS
  7. All reports can be published to Excel, PDF or to SSRS

In short, Pivotier delivers the best Microsoft reporting technologies in a familiar user experience at a low cost.  Why wait for future releases with vaguely defined features when you can enjoy the best of Microsoft reporting today?

Dynamic Page, Row and Column Generation

Pivotier uses your G/L Account and Dimension Value set-up data to automatically create report pages, rows and columns.  Report rows can also be generated using your existing Account Schedule lines while creating pages and columns based on easy “single-click” options.  Report columns can be created for actual/budget data, variances and also prior period values.

Roll-up “Trees”

Your indentation levels in Dimension Values and Chart of Accounts can be used to generate summary pages or rows.  Now you may create logical roll-up structures against your dimensions to easily generate summarized information.

Font Formatting Options

Microsoft’s Report Definition Language and the Microsoft Report Viewer are capable of supporting rich-content reports, including charts and graphics.  Pivotier reveals all these sophisticated formatting capabilities to end users via Style Sheets inside Dynamics NAV.  Style Sheets can be used to define font colors, weight, families, justification and other characteristics such as printing negative numbers in red.

Protecting your Data

You know better than anyone that all users should not have unrestricted access to data.  Because Pivotier starts within Dynamics NAV, it respects all your NAV security roles and permissions.  Using external tools exposes your data to uncontrolled access.

Sharing and Distributing Reports

Your company has people who need reports and may not be day-to-day NAV users.  Adding user sessions can be an expensive proposition and training dozens of casual users can become impossible to sustain.  All Pivotier reports can be published to SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and then run by users with a lower cost SQL user connection to your data.  SSRS also allows you to define subscription rules to automatically execute and distribute reports via email or file transfer.

All reports can also be saved directly to Excel and PDF, or emailed directly using our mail client.  Published reports allow drill-down to NAV data.
